Joyce Anderson McDonald, O.D.

Before joining the team at the Carter Eye Center, Joyce Anderson McDonald, O.D. worked at Jackson Eye Institute in Jackson, MS, a comprehensive ophthalmology practice where she was involved in the medical, surgical, and refractive treatment of eye conditions and diseases.

She received her doctorate Cum Laude from the University of Alabama Birmingham School of Optometry, and her bachelor's Magna Cum Laude from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She served an externship at the Carolina Eye Associates in Pinehurst, NC, where she worked in clinical and surgical outpatient care in a number of ophthalmology facilities. She also served an externship at the Tuscaloosa, Alabama Veterans Affairs Hospital where she was trained in primary optometric care.

Her educational honors include Phi Beta Kappa and Beta Sigma Kappa Optometric Society memberships, the Frederic and Marion Rosemore Award for Excellence in Primary Care, and the Alcon National Student of the Year Award for Clinical Excellence.
