How is PRK done?

• It uses cool laser light to reshape the central cornea, based on your unique corneal characteristics
• The cornea is flattened or steepened, depending on your vision difficulties
• There's no flap creation. Instead, the top layer of corneal cells (epithelium) is removed altogether, and laser light is focused directly on the corneal surface.
  This means that PRK brings none of the complications that result from flap creation.
• There's a longer time needed for healing and visual recovery than after LASIK.
