Browlifts

In Dallas & Fort Worth, Texas

Fort Worth Eye SurgeryThe goal of a brow lift is to reduce the drooping brows and the deep, horizontal furrowing that occurs as a natural result of aging.

The combined effects of gravity and repeated muscle motions work together to permanently furrow our brows, making us appear constantly angry, sad, or tired. If you frequently receive comments or questions about why you might be tired, angry, or depressed when you are feeling nothing of the sort, perhaps a brow lift might be a good idea. A brow lift can correct drooping eyebrows, wrinkles and creases in the brow, crepe-like and loose skin in the brow and hooding around the edge of the eyes.

A less-invasive procedure that can also impact brow lines is BOTOX® injections.

Is a Brow Lift for Me?

The best candidates for brow lifts are 40-60 year old men and women who wish to reduce the effects of aging on their forehead area. If you have had excessive stress or have begun to develop age lines even sooner, it may also be appropriate. Some people with inherited conditions such as a low, heavy brow or furrowed lines above the nose may also benefit from a brow lift.

The Procedure

In an endoscopic brow lift, three to six small incisions are made behind the hairline. An endoscope, a tiny surgical tube, is inserted along with tiny instruments for grasping and cutting the tissue. The skin and muscle of the forehead is pulled up, tightening it across the brow, and any additional muscle, fat, or skin that might have contributed to the laxity or furrowing is removed. In addition, tiny sutures (stitches) might be used to secure the eyebrows at a higher level than before.

The TransBleph brow lift is a revolutionary new procedure that allows you to perform a browlift through a single, upper lid incision used for a conventional blepharoplasty. Using the Coapt patented, multipoint soft tissue fixation technology, the Trans Bleph fixation device - a small, three-tined bioabsorbable implant - is placed underneath the brow and anchored directly to the underlying bone for secure brow elevation.

Recovery

To minimize recovery time, comply with all doctor's instructions about pre- and post-operative care. For the first night after the procedure, you should sleep with your head elevated. You will probably feel some numbness, itchiness, and pain over the first few days. Pain medication will be prescribed. Swelling and bruising may be present in your forehead for ten days or so. If you relax and follow all doctor's instructions, recovery should be complete in less than 2 weeks.
